NIGHT OF THE ARTEFACTS FESTIVAL

PERFECT MATCH

Workshop to explore Vasarely’s works by touch

20 MAY, SATURDAY | 14.00–15.30

Vasarely’s reliefs allow sighted and visually impaired people alike to become familiar with the artist’s visual alphabet, which he developed since the 1950s. These works of art also provide insight into Vasarely’s use of symmetry, direction, and movement. Explore the mock-ups made by the museum and get closer to the dualities built into the artist’s compositions: even-odd, empty-full and positive-negative. Use the museum’s stenciling machine to cut out the desired shapes from selected materials, then create one or more take-home reliefs.

Program held by: Litza Juhász, museum educator

Duration: 90 minutes

Max. number of participants: 15 people

Participation in the program is free of charge for visually impaired persons and their companions. Please inform Lilla Horváth of your intention to participate at the lilla.horvath@mutargy.com email address.

MUSE AND ALLY – Victor Vasarely and Denise René’s adventure with geometric abstract art

Guided tour in the permanent exhibition

20 MAY, SATURDAY | 16.00–17.30

The already successful advertising graphic artist Victor Vasarely met Denise Rene (1913–2012), the daughter of a silk manufacturer from Lyon, on Christmas Day 1939 in war-torn Paris, at the now legendary Café de Flore. Little could they have guessed that their meeting would turn into a decades-long adventure of the world: the success story of geometric abstraction and one of its most important exhibition spaces, Galerie Denise René.

The fates of Vasarely and Denise René were intertwined professionally, mentally and, for a while, emotionally. The result of their artistic cooperation is numerous exhibitions dealing with emblematic abstraction, unique albums, multiplias and donations of high-value artworks offered to the Museum of Fine Arts.

Program held by: Kata Kárpáti, museologist of the Vasarely Museum Pécs

Duration: 90 minutes

Max. number of participants: 15 people
