Victor Vasarely’s “planetary folklore” and “polychrome city” – the idea of the democratisation of art

According to Victor Vasarely, the building blocks of the human environment and cities of the future are plastic works that can be reproduced industrially and provide unlimited possibilities for variation. After 1955, the most important aim of his work became to bring art to the widest range of social strata, a utopian idea realised in many of the works in the Vasarely Collection in Budapest.

The focus of the guided tour will be on his works created using different methods of reproduction, i.e. his serigraphs, metal, plexiglass, and wooden objects, as well as his building decoration plans.
