Through the Eyes of a Math Teacher – Exploring and Enjoying the Vasarely Museum Budapest with your students

On Saturday, 12 November we are holding a workshop for math teachers who would like to use works by Vasarely in their classrooms as well as on tours at the Vasarely Museum Budapest. Museum educators have developed lesson plans and materials for teachers and their students to explore and enjoy the collection. We are wondering how useful these materials are to math teachers, especially those who would like to bring their students on a self-guided tour.

During the workshop, we will introduce the following educational materials and ask feedback from the participants about:

• a video animation which introduces some tips on how to make the most out of the exhibition spaces, including rules that need to be followed during museum visits for teachers and students;

• activities for specific works of art from the Dive into Mathematics tour;

• the written lesson plan for this tour;

• a step-by-step “how to” questionnaire on analysing works of art.

In addition, we hope math teachers participating will be able to help us

• finalise a tool for art teachers on the mathematical aspects of Vasarely’s works of art;

• better understand the math concepts embedded in art activities we offer students.

Date: Saturday, 12 November from 10 am – 1 pm

Venue: Vasarely Museum Budapest

This program is free of charge.

This program will be in Hungarian.
